Final mini-project

Bring it all together in one practical project

Apply spreadsheets, SQL concepts, a dashboard and written insights to a single business dataset.

Purpose

The final project shows you can take a business question from raw data to a clear recommendation. It is small by design, so you can complete it within the course and explain every step.

You can use it as an example of practical work in your portfolio or professional materials. It is not a certification and does not guarantee any career outcome.

Project structure

  1. Dataset analysis

Review a business dataset, define the question and check data quality.

  2. Spreadsheet work

Clean the data, create calculated columns and summarize with pivot tables.

  3. SQL concepts

Write simple queries that answer parts of the question, such as totals by category.

  4. Dashboard

Build a one-page dashboard with scorecards, a trend chart and a comparison chart.

  5. Written insights

Summarize what you found using the "what, so what, now what" structure.

  6. Final presentation

Present your findings as if to a non-technical stakeholder.

This example was created by Data Lunex to illustrate the format. It is not a real student's work.

Written summary (example)

Question: Which products should the store promote next quarter?

Finding: Mugs generated 49% of Q2 revenue with the highest unit volume. Notebook sales declined three months in a row.
